Additional funding for UNFPA to deliver activities under the UN Joint Program to Reduce Maternal and Neonatal Mortality and to progress MDGs 4 and 5. The program will be implemented in six predominantly rural provinces and four urban poor areas where most babies are delivered by unskilled birth attendants. This initiative aims to improve access to quality continuum care and services to mothers and newborns; and increase utilisation of core reproductive health, maternal and newborn services. The total value of this initiative is $8.5 million over 1 year, 2010-11.
