The main objective of the program supported by this grant is to encage church leaders (particularly bishops, youth and women leaders) and other relevant individuals around the world, regardless of their religious affiliation, more actively in the fight against the HIV pandemic; to educate them about the role their churches can play in combating the pandemic in their country settings; to help progressive youth and women leaders guiding the member churches in their fight against HIV to work toward a much more active and open involvement in HIV and AIDS work; and to encourage and support member churches and other institutions in becoming cooperating partners of host-country Country Coordinating Mechanisms.
