In general, this initiative aims to integrate mental health to primary health care in the areas of Lanao del Norte. Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City. Specifically, it aims to achieve the following: 1. Enhance awareness and understanding of the people on the significance of mental health; 2. Ensure access to mental health needs of women, girls, boys and men and identify those with common mental health issues and severe psychological distress; 3. Refer patients with severe mental disorder to Psychiatrist for proper diagnosis, medication and psychotherapy; 4. Provide psychoeducation to caregivers, patients and health workers as well as psychological first aids to individuals that needs them; 5. Capacitate community health workers to assess, identify and refer cases of common and severe mental disorders; 6. Strengthen referral mental health system and collaboration with medical team; 7. Conduct other psychological support activities to promote mental health and wellness. 8. Develop communication strategies and activities to promote mental health awareness and generate support from the general public.
